Natural skin care regimes are most likely to leave consumers with a young-looking complexion if they take on plenty of liquid, it has suggested.

Melanie Simon, a natural beauty expert who runs Beautiful You boutiques in California and Wyoming, explained that drinking lots of water can help people to roll back the years.

“A dehydrated face looks years older,” she claimed.

She went on to reveal that a number cosmetics companies “take a ‘before’ photo of a dehydrated model, then give her a bunch of water (and of course their miracle product) to take the ‘after’ picture”.

Consequently, Ms Simon recommended that natural skin care regimes can be complemented if people drink half their body weight in fluid ounces every day, with an extra eight ounces of water for every eight ounces of caffeinated beverage consumed.

Her advice echoes that of Lavinia Borcau, who runs her own spa in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She told the Chronicle that drinking clean water and eating organic food has beneficial effects on a person’s health and wellbeing
