Wash hands after using the restroom and before handling food, and follow this with a good, thick lotion to prevent dry skin. In the winter, keep hands and feet soft and smooth by putting on lotion or cream before gloves and socks. Lip balm helps keep lips from becoming dry and cracked.

Organic and natural products are a safe way to keep the skin moisturized. These products often list all the ingredients on the label, which is of great help to people with contact allergies. If you find yourself unable to use conventional moisturizers, or have sensitivity to artificial dyes or fragrances, consider switching to natural beauty products. By using moisturizers on a regular basis, you can prevent skin from drying out and avoid itchy, flaking skin.
